骨格と外装（Skelton and Skin）によるロボット構造の必要性
私たちは、AIとインターネットの時代には人にフレンドリーなロボットが必要だと思っています。それを考えると外観は自分の好みのキャラクターなどに近づけたくなりますよね？しかも皆さんの好みも人それぞれですから、外観のカスタマイズは必須になります。
ロボットを設計する立場で考えるとロボットの外観をカスタマイズするというのは結構難しい注文です。なぜなら細い骨格とその上を覆う外装（皮膚）でロボットを構成する必要があるからです。前の解説でお話ししたように、普通の2足歩行ロボットはその重い体重を支えるための頑丈な骨格と関節が必要で、スリムなロボットを設計するのはとても難しいのです。
私たちは、情報を人にフレンドリーに伝えるためのスリムで美しい外観のロボットを目指していたので、この要求にもこたえることができました。外装を交換できる構造を実現しているのです。
The Necessity of Robot Structures Based on Skeletons and Skins
We believe that in the age of AI and the Internet, we need robots that are friendly to humans. When you think about it, you want the appearance to be close to your favorite character, right? Moreover, since everyone’s preferences are different, customization of the appearance is essential.
From a robot design perspective, customizing a robot’s appearance is a rather challenging task. This is because robots must be constructed using a slim skeleton and an outer shell (skin) that covers it. As mentioned earlier, conventional bipedal robots require a sturdy skeleton and joints to support their heavy weight, making it very difficult to design a slim robot.
We aimed to create a slim, beautiful-looking robot that could convey information in a user-friendly manner, so we were able to meet this requirement. We have achieved a structure where the outer shell can be exchanged.
